About
Clear Film Review is for viewers who like to look and listen again. It examines the choices that shape moving images, making room for close attention without turning film into a test with one right answer.
What we look at
Our subjects include framing, camera movement, editing, light, composition and sound. We consider how these elements work on their own and how they meet within a scene, sequence or film. The emphasis is on film language and visual storytelling, not verdicts about what every viewer should enjoy.
Who it is for
The publication is for curious viewers, whether they are new to discussing film or already inclined to notice a cut, a shadow or a sound that lingers. You do not need specialist vocabulary: explanations begin with what can be seen or heard and build from there.
A close-reading approach
We aim to describe the choice before proposing what it might do. A low camera angle, a long pause or an unexpected sound can invite several readings; context matters, and no single detail automatically proves a filmmaker's intention. Clear Film Review values careful observation over grand claims.
