Clear Film Review

Editorial policy

Clear Film Review aims to describe film craft accurately, separate observation from interpretation and make its editorial choices legible. Our articles are written for general readers and do not claim that one reading settles a film's meaning.

Accuracy and interpretation

We check descriptions of a film's visible and audible details against the work wherever it is available to us, and take care to distinguish what appears on screen from what we infer. Interpretations are presented as readings, not established facts about a creator's intention. Where an article relies on material outside the film, its wording should make that clear.

Independence

Editorial judgments belong to the publication. A commercial relationship does not buy a favourable reading or control over an editorial conclusion. We do not present promotional claims as independent assessment, and we aim to make relevant interests clear to readers.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, use the Contact page and identify the article and wording. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the text and make the correction clear in the article. Differences of interpretation are not factual errors, but readers may still raise them for consideration.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner material is identified clearly as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. The publication may use AI-generated illustrations; when it does, the illustration is labelled so readers can distinguish it from film stills, documentary images or other artwork.
