Clear Film Review

Write for us

Clear Film Review welcomes pitches that help readers notice how moving images are made. We are interested in focused, carefully observed writing about film language, with an idea clear enough to explain in a short proposal.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the central question or observation, why it suits Clear Film Review and the particular film, scene or visual choice you would examine. A strong pitch has a defined scope: one technique, a useful comparison or a fresh route into a familiar element of film form. Explain the approach in your own words rather than sending a broad list of subjects.

Writing and evidence

We value precise descriptions, plain language and a clear distinction between what can be observed and what is interpretation. Avoid claims about a filmmaker's intentions unless the evidence supports them, and identify any sources your proposal would rely on. Do not send confidential material or claim first-hand testing where none took place.

How to propose a piece

Send your proposal through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline and a brief note about relevant experience if you wish. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; any further editorial discussion can take place if the idea is a fit.
